In the ever expanding South Boston businesses district, we can’t help get excited for even more new restaurants, fitness studios, and boutiques to open in our neighborhood.  Here’s a list of some new businesses in the hood:

Publico:
Looks like the much anticipated restaurant at 11 Dorchester Street in Southie, is slated to open in January of 2017.  According to Boston Magazine, Publico (at one point called Republic) will feature moderately priced comfort food and a menu from chef with a menu from chef Keenan Langlois.   The restaurant will have 150 seat and outdoor seating with a vine-covered canopy!  Public will be open from 5pm-12am Tuesday – Sunday.

The Certified Meatball Company:
Never in our lives have we been craving meatballs more since it was announced that The Certified Meatball Company would be opening in the failed Windmill Restaurant spot  – in between Lincoln and Capo.  Initially it was report the people behind Wink & NodThe Tap Trailhouse, and Griddler’s Burgers + Dogs would open at 429 West Broadway sometime this summer.  Well, the holidays are here and no CMC.   Their last Facebook post was that construction was underway in July.  So now we wait with bated breath for the official announcement.  Stay tuned.

The Social Register:
D Street in South Boston continues to grow and change at a rapid pace and there will soon be a new addition in 2017.  The Social Register will open at 401 D Street (in the bottom floor of Aloft Hotel) and will seat 200 and have a seasonal outdoor patio that will seat 30.

B Tone Fitness:
Everyone wants a sexy, sculpted body, right?  Well, B Tone Fitness will be opening at 416 West Broadway soon just in time for New Years Resolutions!   Adding another choice in fitness studios, B Tone combines strength, endurance, balance, flexibility and cardio on the Megaformer – like a reformer.  Classes combine Pilates and circuit training.  Sounds like fun!

Nero Cafe:
This wildly popular Italian cafe has been popping up all over the place.  Lucky for us, a new one will open at 416 West Broadway.  Featuring breakfast and lunch, Nero Cafe offers everything from muffins and scones, delicious salads and sandwiches and coffee!  For a full menu visit here!

Wingstop:
Wing lovers rejoice!  Wingstop will be opening at 416 West Broadway.  Featuring wings and tenders in every flavor you can imagine, if you love wings, you’ll love Wingstop!

Covet:
A little birdie told us Covet will be taking over the larger spot next store on West Broadway which means more room for amazing treasure finds at this popular Southie consignment shop!

In exciting business rumors – we hear an organic, healthy, locally sourced salad shop is eyeballing spots on Southie to open soon!

In disappointing business news, two more nail shops will be opening on the already saturated block of East Broadway between I and K.

Newly opened:

Casa de Pedro:
Casa de Pedro – is now officially opened in the ground floor of Waterside Apartments (505 Congress Street) and features a Venezuelan & Spanish fusion menu with a lively bar scene.  We hear the food is delicious!

Oak +Rowan:
Oak + Rowan – Fort Point’s newest addition to the ever expanding choices in eating and drinking hot spots – is now open.   This 5000 square foot restaurant is located at 319 A Street and is a cozy and chic spot to share some tuna crudo or the pasta tasting menu and indulge in one of their delicious signature cocktails some of which are mixed up table side at their traveling liquor cart!  They also have an extensive and impressive wine list.  You can check out their menus here!

Soon to open on the waterfront:
New York City’s vegan restaurant By Chloe will be opening up another location at 101 Seaport Blvd. soon.  The healthy menu will consist of salads, vegan burgers, sandwiches, pasta, dairy-free ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, coffee, cold-pressed juices, coffee, and more.  Also, in the seaport, a new bakery and cafe will be opening soon.  Sorelle will feature  a coffee, tea, and breakfast and lunch including pastries, quiche, sandwiches, salads, and more. Yum.  Sorelle also has cafes in Charlestown and Atlantic

Also in Fort Point, Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar will reside at 253 Summer Street.   Hopsters, a Newton based brewpub has its eyes on a 6,000 square foot spot for a future location in Fort Point/Seaport District in the Fan Pier area. City Tap House is officially open in Fort Point.  Located at 10 Boston Wharf Road, this soon to be hot spot will feature a menu of wood-fired pizza, salads, mussels, chicken and waffles, burgers and more!  Also on tap….well over a 100 beers on tap!

According to Boston Eater, these new spots also should be opening in near future in the Seaport: Aceituna Grill, Mastro’s Steakhouse at Twenty Two Liberty, Tony C’s, Tuscan Kitchen and Market, Yo! Sushi! Squeeze Juice, The Social Register, Scorpion Bar and Grand (brought to you by Big Night Entertainment Group behind Empire, Gem, Red Lantern and more), SantoukaShake Shack, and Juice Press.  Phew.  Now we will never have to leave South Boston.Looks like the Broadway Station area of the neighborhood is getting yet another restaurant.  According to Banker & Tradesman a giant restaurant with seating for 350 in a total of 6,000 square feet of space will be opening in the bottom floor of the new condo/apartment complex at 14 West Broadway.  No word who will be opening the restaurant and when it’s slated to open.  We heard it might be a Cheesecake Factory – just kidding!

The block between I and K does not need more nail salons! We need more Asian takeout places! Affordable Sushi, Thai, Korean. Stop with the freakin nail salons – Wendy is the best anyway.

Couldn’t agree more, so many nail salons, please make it stop.

Also, Moko is way too expensive! When Pan Asia moved and stopped doing sushi it was devastating (even tho Loco is great). More Southie sushi spots!!

Wow you come across as such a snob with this line. I guess I’m not surprised.

It’s always unsettling to me that people anonymously post mean spirited comments. If you think I’m a snob that I wrote that we don’t need 8 nail shops on the same block, man up and say it with your real name attached. I suspect you just don’t like me and need to say something negative to me to feel better about yourself, “big.birdman.”

We could use an upscale restaurant on the East Side. Something similar to what has happened with Capo on West Broadway. Haven’t been too impressed with Sixth Gear or Roza Lyons.

Had a great opportunity for one with the spot at Broadway and L but opted for a Starbucks instead.

I totally agree with you Maureen about the over saturation of nail salons on E. Broadway….!!!
Broadway Nails is all you need!! They are wonderful people, and I feel bad that more salons will be cutting into their business :( whose responsible for these permits anyway???
Thanks for bringing up what a lot of people are feeling!

What about where the old Shell Station was and across the street? Can’t find anything about them online.

It’s going to be a TD Bank! Across the street is condos and a potential restaurant/commercial space.
