Remember way back in January of 2020, when there was a community meeting to discuss a proposed cannabis shop on East First Street? Well, evidently back in May, it was shot down by Zoning Board of Appeals due to community opposition but it looks like the shop is getting a second chance.

According to the Boston Herald, Holland Brands will get to state their case again in July of why a cannabis shop should go in 531 East First Street – an old industrial site at the corner of K.

The article goes on to state that an Inspectional Services Department spokeswoman said the rescheduling is being allowed due to “technical difficulties” some ZBA members experienced during the initial hearing in May.

City Councilor Ed Flynn – who is an opponent of the project – told the Herald he never seen anything like a company getting another hearing in front of the ZBA. “It’s outrageous that a company that received a fair and public hearing and didn’t get the vote that they wanted now are trying to seek another hearing…” Flynn stated in the article.
