We all know taking the bus in Southie can be a drag – especially the #7 during rush hour. Well, Hilco Redevelopment Partners and Redgate Capital Partners – the developers behind the new L Street Station project are proposing three potential routes for a new bus line to help Southie residents get to and fro South Station. The hopes is to have it up and running by the beginning of 2019. One of the proposed bus lines would be an express #7 from City Point down Summer Street to downtown.
A new proposal for this large scale L Street Station project was filed with the Boston Planning Development Agency this past week. In addition to potential new bus line, infrastructure improvements like new traffic signals, wider sidewalks on Summer and East 1st, and Blue Bike space, bike space for almost 1800 bikes, plus space for car-sharing services like Zip Car in the hopes to reduce traffic are also included in the updated plan.
