On Thursday, April 2, 2026, officers assigned to the citywide Neighborhood Engagement Safety Team (NEST) arrested Darmayne White, 51, of South Boston, for illegal drug distribution.
About 10:20 AM, officers were conducting an ongoing initiative to address quality of life issues that have plagued the area of New Market Square. Officers observed a male individual hand to two other individuals an unknown item from his rear pocket.
Further observations revealed that the suspect had a large plastic bag inside the rear of his pants. A street level drug transaction was believed to have transpired between the group.
Officers were able to stop one of the suspects and placed him into handcuffs. The suspect became uncooperative with officers on scene, and refused to be searched.
