Mylar Ballon causes electrical transformer to short
That’s no way to start another week of quarantine
On Monday, a mylar balloon drifted into an overhead electrical transformer on Swallow Street in South Boston. This action caused the transformer to short out then causing the power to go out on that block. One witness described hearing a loud “BOOM!”
BFD and BPD responded. Eversource was on the way to hopefully remedy the situation.
Evidently the mylar balloon has a thin coating of metal – when the metal hit the overhead transformer, the balloon exploded and burned causing the electricity to short out.
No word where the balloon came from.
Man shot at Broadway Station in South Boston on Friday night.
