MBTA fares will be rising
Just when you think the MBTA couldn’t get any worse, it does. With inflated budgets, MBTA employee overtime abuse, poor service and outdated buses and trains, the MBTA board voted to raise fairs. Despite a room full of protestors, yelling and screaming at the board meeting, the board members unanimously approved the fare hike without even flinching.
According to the Boston Globe, Monday’s fare hike is on the most “controversial moves to date” by the board. Does that surprise us? Not at all. It’s the MBTA and they are like the honey badger – they don’t give a shit.
So what does that mean for you, the commuter? Well, it means your monthly pass will increase between 4.9% and 10%. Talk about insult to injury. To read more in depth coverage of this debacle, read this.
The fact that the MBTA’s problems haven’t been fixed, and the fare is still being raised despite that, absolutely stinks!
If they’re going to raise the fare on the MBTA, let them fix the problems on the MBTA.
The problems of the MBTA ought to be fixed before they increase the fare on the T! It’s disgraceful that they’re raising the fare on the T when it’s still in such bad shape.
