Rusteika Committee Raises More Than $17,000

SOUTH BOSTON, MAY 18, 2018: Friends and neighbors packed the hall at the Seapoint Bar & Grill last night to kick off Democrat Matt Rusteika’s campaign for State Representative. The election will fill the seat left vacant by Nick Collins’ election to the State Senate.

The campaign raised $17,200, exceeding expectations and demonstrating the resonance of the campaign’s message.

“This campaign is about making room for working families in the City of Boston,” said Rusteika. “We need a Representative who lives the challenges that families are facing in this district every day. We need a tenacious, independent voice on Beacon Hill who’s going to go to bat for the people of this district.”

The 4th Suffolk District encompasses all of South Boston—including Fort Point and the Waterfront—Harbor Point, and the Boston Harbor Islands.

“I’m happy to be here supporting Matt,” said Peter Gailunas, a father and Boston firefighter from South Boston. “I think he knows from experience how we can make it easier for families to stay in town, and that’s important to me as somebody who’s been through it.”

“I think Matt’s the right person at the right time,” said lifelong South Boston resident Amy Lindenfelzer. “He’s an honest, genuine guy who will really stick up for the community. That’s the most important thing.”

The Democratic primary—scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, the day after Labor Day—will be the only contested election in the State Representative race this year. No Republicans and no unenrolled candidates are on the ballot.

Please get out there and vote on September 4!
