Man rescued from Reserved Channel in Southie
A man was pulled from the icy cold waters of Reserved Channel near East First Street on Friday morning. He was conscious and alert. Boston fire, police and EMS all responded to the scene.
According to the Boston Globe, the man didn’t seem to want to be rescued at first and it took a few times. The man swam away from the rescuers, refused a life ring and then clung to a metal piling. Rescuers were able to lasso him and pull him to safety onto a boat. The man is in his 20’s and was wearing a white tank top, black shorts and sneakers.
He was taken to an area hospital.
Classic example of mankind interfering with natural selection.
