Local shoplifter is caught “red panted” in South Boston
Harry & Lou, a newly opened boutique, often displays a rack of sales items in front of its East Broadway location. On Sunday, the shop owner noticed a gentleman going through the rack of clothing and seemed to be lingering for a bit. Then, he was gone in a flash, along with a matching set of pants and top.
The shop owner called the police, and when the BPD arrived, she provided the officers with details and showed them what the outfit looked like. Meanwhile, a woman exiting Stop and Shop overheard the conversation and informed them that the suspect was inside the supermarket wearing the pants.
BPD went inside and found the suspect “caught red panted”. The suspect also had other stolen items on him, and a dog was accompanying him. The suspect was arrested and the dog was taken in by animal control.

The dog was released after posting bail in the amount of one box of Yummies and his favorite chew toy.
Oh, wow!! That was quick thinking and acting on the part of the store’s owner to call the police. It’s great that the shoplifter was caught right away. It serves the shoplifter right!
