Late-night bus and train service on the T will be a thing of the past by March 18th. According to the Boston Globe, the MBTA’s fiscal control board voted Monday 4-0 to end the service without discussion.
The MBTA believes it can save nearly $9 million by cutting it. Late-night service began in March of 2014 as a pilot program and extended the T’s closing time to 2:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Last summer hours were shortened until 2am and some bus routes were canceled.
