Just so you know the #7 Bus Route is changing….
We’ve seen the bus stops – packed with people – some patiently waiting – others not so patiently waiting for the bus to come pick them up and take them to work. The #7 is notoriously jammed with commuters sometimes full to capacity by the M Street stop.
The MBTA has altered the #7 Route slightly in the hopes that shortening the route would allow the bus to return back to the neighborhood to pick up waiting commuters. So what does this mean for you? Here’s the scoop:
- Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, during peak rush hours – every other inbound bus’ final stop will be Atlantic and Summer St. It will not head further downtown to Devonshire and Otis St.
- Pappas Way will no longer be served.
- The express service will save roughly 4 minutes
- The express service to Congress Street & Atlantic Ave ONLY is marked on the schedule by the letter a.

How about we just add more busses???/ This doesnt solve the probkem,
I don’t think that there is a return bus stop for the 5, 9, or 10 bus at the corner of L Street and East Broadway… All of the signs are down and the bus now stops at K and M Streets…
I wonder now if they will have more running in the evening especially Mon-Wedn I take the bus home from my night job just about 7:40 and alot of times it goes right by the stop right near D St. because its so packed mostly in the colder months…otherwise its fine you don’t mind walking over the bridge…it just doesn’t make sense knowing that why don’t they add another run or so instead of 1 every 30-40 minutes after a certain hour….no-one works 9-5 anymore…..and everyone got there earlier in the day we have to get home to…… just saying
Just a clarification- looks like this new route is only for AM (only) peak inbound trips, not PM.
From MBTA schedule update: Half of all Weekday AM peak inbound trips will end at Congress/Atlantic instead of Otis/Summer in order to increase frequency. Pappas Way will no longer be served.
