It’s Time to Play: Colin’s Joy Project/DCR Playground at Marine Park Soft Opening
The long-awaited Colin’s Joy Project/DCR playground collaboration at Marine Park is nearly complete, and boy, does it look AWESOME! We can’t wait to see all the kids rush onto it and test it out at our soft opening on Wednesday, November 15th, at 3pm!
This Colin’s Joy Project/DCR Playground Collaboration is the largest project Colin’s Joy Project has taken on yet. This project will include a new, larger footprint, a more accessible playground with fenced-in play areas, and multiple colorful play structures and features inspired by Colin’s Creativity Squad. A large donation from Colin’s Joy Project and matching funds from DCR’s Grants Programs funded much of this project.
The soft opening is an event focused on kids, allowing them to be one of the first to play on this exciting new playground!
A formal grand opening when the entirety of the grounds are finished will take place in Spring 2024. In the meantime, the kids can break the playground in!

Hey Maureen: this is great news indeed! The park is actually named the Michael Joyce Playground and was redeveloped through the efforts of a few parties including The outstanding Colin’s Joy Project. Congrats to all!
Will it remain open after the soft opening?
Thx!!
I don’t believe so. Looks like there is a grand opening planned for the spring.
The grand opening is noted for Spring 2024 but a friend who lives near by noted that they’re taking the fence down so looks like it might be opening. I hope so especially with weather prediction for Sunday
