City of Boston Primary Election is Tuesday, September 12th! Polls are open 7am-8pm. Wondering where to vote? You can check your polling location here! Wondering which district you live in? Visit here! The Boston Globe also maps out districts here.
Eligible voters must be registered to vote by September 2nd in order to cast their ballots in the Sept. 12 preliminary election. You have until 5 p.m. on September 2nd to register to vote in person and until 11:59 p.m. for online voter registration. If you register to vote by mail, it must be postmarked by Saturday, September 2, 2023.
The winners of the preliminary will then go on to compete in the general election on November 7th.
Early voting for the preliminary elections for Districts 3, 5, 6, and 7 will take place September 2nd through September. 8th. Voting locations by date can be found here.
Reminder: There are some new polling locations in the City of Boston. The new precinct structure focuses on equity across voting populations in each precinct to reduce wait times and increase access.
Other important dates:
October 28th: The deadline to register to vote in the general election is 5 p.m.
October 31st: The deadline to request your vote-by-mail ballot for the general election is 5 p.m.
November 7th: General election day. Voters have from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. to cast their votes for district and at-large city councilors.
