You will be missed!

Looks like Williams Tavern and My Diner will become casualties due to development in the near future.  At a recent St. Vinny’s/Lower End Neighborhood Association monthly meeting, the developer who purchased Williams Tavern/My Diner building located at the corner of A and West Second streets presented a proposal for development of a 7-story building at the site of 100 A Street.

We have to assume that Williams Tavern and My Diner are not included in this proposal.

Fun facts:

Did you know that in 1945 a gentleman by the name of Joe D.purchased the William’s Tavern from St. Peter & Paul Church – after the original owner William donated it after he died?  Joe considered changing the name from William’s Tavern but decided to keep the name because his father’s name was William and he was a big fan of Ted Williams. He dropped the apostrophe from the name.  William’s Tavern then became Williams Tavern.

My Diner has been serving up some of the best breakfast in Southie for over a decade.  And they also will deliver it right to your door.   What’s better than that? http://www.astreetmydiner.com

We say make a plan to visit these beloved spots in Southie before they are just a distant memory.  Remember the Quencher?  How about Ashley’s or The Abby?

What are some of your old school Southie spots that no longer exist?
