No one does a honey-dipped (aka glazed) donut like Doughboy – sweet and warm, fresh from the oven!  So when we learned this week, the property at 220 Dorchester Ave – home of Doughboy’s was sold, we thought, “Oh, boy!  It’s only a matter of time.”

The same group that bought the site next door – where the Enterprise Rental is – also purchased Doughboy’s.  Dot Ave Two Twenty, a company owned by the developers at Evergreen Property Group – are the new owner of 220 Dorchester Ave.  So does this purchase have anything to do with the future boutique hotel that has been proposed at 230 Dorchester Ave right next door to Doughboy.  If we had an Magic 8-ball in our hand it would read, “All signs point to yes.”

According to the Boston Globe, Doughboy owner, Phyllis Fandel, owner says they are only in year 5 of a 25 year lease.  She is meeting with Evergreen next week.  Fandel says she planning on not closing unless the new building owner pays her to move to a new location or an early retirement.  Fingers crossed it’s a new Southie location.

Doughboy Donuts has been in business for almost 40 years in Southie!

Doughboy is not on Dorchester Street. It is on Dorchester Ave.
