General Electric has filed their formal plans for the new headquarters in the Fort Point neighborhood of South Boston with the Boston Redevelopment Authority on Monday. So what’s in store of this Fortune 500 company’s complex? A brand new 12-story glass building complete with solar-panel canopy, vegetated green roofs and a two-story museum. There will also be a “vertical village” which will feature a glass enclosed work area where visitors and people walking by can sneak a peek at GE’s teams working and creating.
The construction is expected to start in the spring and will last roughly 15 months.
Want to learn more about the GE project? There is meeting Tuesday night at City Hall at 6:30pm.
