Jon Chesto of the Boston Globe just reported that General Electric will relocate is global headquarters to Boston.  “Company executives called the governor and mayor separately Wednesday morning, as well as their staffs, to say a formal announcement will come Thursday.”

As to where exactly the Fortune 500 (ranked 8th) company will relocated has not been determined but it will definitely be in South Boston.  According to the article, two locations have been pinpointed – one on Summer StreetChannel and the other is Massport property located next to the World Trade Center T station.

This is a huge feather in the business cap of the City of Boston and State of Massachusetts and will put Boston on the map as a technology leader.
