Firearm Recovered, Suspect Arrested During Traffic Stop in South Boston

At about 2:25 AM, on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 28-year-old Greg Wright, of Braintree, MA, for firearm related offenses following a traffic stop at Boston St. and Ellery St., South Boston.
Officers were patrolling the area of Columbia Rd. and Mass. Ave. when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers activated their emergency lights and siren and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers approached the vehicle and identified the operator as Greg Wright and two other passengers. During the traffic stop, Officers observed both of the passengers to be breathing heavily and uncontrollably shaking. An investigation into the occupants of the vehicle and the vehicle itself followed and resulted in the recovery of a firearm located inside the vehicle’s center console.
District B-2 Detectives responded and determined the firearm to be a Star B. Echeverria S.A., loaded with six (6) total rounds of 380 ammunition iInside a metallic feeding device, and one (1) round in the chamber.
Greg Wright was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and was issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Speeding.
