Firearm Recovered After Suspect Found Drinking in Public in South Boston

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Officers assigned to the District C-6 Community Interaction Team (South Boston) arrested 74-year-old Clinton Satterfield of South Boston on firearm and public drinking charges after observing him in possession of an open container of alcohol outside 9 McDonough Way.
At approximately 11:00 AM, Officers were conducting a walk-and-talk assignment in the Preble Circle area, addressing ongoing quality-of-life concerns, when they observed two men seated outside 9 McDonough Way with open containers of alcohol. As officers approached to investigate, one of the individuals was identified as Clinton Satterfield.
While issuing city ordinance violations for drinking in public, Officers discovered a firearm in Satterfield’s waistband. The firearm was identified as a Taurus G3 9mm with one round in the chamber and no magazine present.
During a subsequent search, Officers recovered a small black zippered case in Satterfield’s possession containing two additional rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Satterfield was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on the following charges:
- Firearm Violation with One Prior Violent and/or Drug Offense
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Drinking of Alcoholic Beverages in Public (Boston)
