The Boston Fire Department received a call at approximately 11:45am for a fire at 57 West Seventh Street in Southie.  The fire started on the roof and spread to third floor and jumped to 55 and 59 West Seventh too.   BFD quickly knocked down the fire and no one was hurt.  The residents of 57 West Seventh are displaced.

An investigation has found that the cause of the fire was “careless disposal of smoking materials.  According the BFD twitter feed, “specifically using a rooftop planter as an ashtray.”
