Finn the Doodle had a quite a day. After running away from his dog walker, posts were made on social media seeking the public’s help to find Finn.

Two Southie residents, Hannah Wiley and Lily Smith, saw the post on social media and headed out to see if they could find Finn. He was spotted crossing Day Boulevard heading to M Street Beach. When Lily approached Finn, the doodle decided to take a swim. And swim he did. He swam out about 100 yards. Hannah jumped into the water and began to swim out but Finn was too far. Eventually, he swam near the wooden fence and Hannah once again swam out and this time successfully was able to retrieve him. Emily Fitzpatrick- another bystander on the beach – took her leash off of her dog – and hooked it onto Finn. James Allen was also on scene at the beach trying to wrangle Finn.

Boston fire and EMS showed up to help. They checked on all parties involved including Finn. Hannah was given a jacket and sweatshirt to keep warm from BFD. EMS gave a blanket to Finn.

Soon, the dog walker and Finn’s owner showed up and all were reunited. Thank goodness!

It’s people like Hannah, Lily, Emily and James that make our neighborhood of South Boston so awesome!

Special thank you to BFD and Boston EMS!
