Every vote counts: Julia Mejia wins 4th City Councilor-at-Large seat.

Remember back in November during our city council election a recount was ordered? Or maybe you don’t because per usual, there was low voter turnout. Anyway, after the election for the at-large seat, the votes between candidates Julia Mejia and Alejandra Nicole St. Guillen were just 10 votes.Yes, 10 votes. A recount took place and it was revealed on Monday that Mejia won by just ONE vote! St. Guillen can order yet another recount so we shall see. We’d have to image that another recount will happen due to the fact it’s only one vote, right? We shall see.
Michelle Wu, Annissa Essaibi George, and Michael Flaherty were elected for the top 3 spots for at-large.
A reminder that it’s important to vote in our local elections. Make sure to register to vote!
