Election Night News – Not enough ballots in Boston + Election Results

Whether you woke up elated with the news that Donald Trump is now our 47th President or if you woke up sad and disappointed, here are the election results and some news about ballots in Boston.

First, the ballots

Due to high voter turnout Tuesday afternoon, some Boston polling stations ran out of ballots. Boston Police were sent to bring new ballots before the polls closed.

The state cannot extend voting hours without a court order, but anyone who was in line by 8 p.m. could still vote.

According to WBUR, the affected precincts are in Hyde Park.  Apparently, the city’s election department did not send all of the ballots in its possession to polling locations. City election workers were told to send additional ballots and then check in with other precincts in Hyde Park and Roslindale to ensure they were adequately supplied.

Earlier in the day, a precinct in East Boston reported a vote tabulator that wasn’t working properly, but people were still able to cast their votes. Ballots in the precinct were hand counted until the tabulator was fixed.

The City of Boston issued the following apology on social media.

“We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion, and are grateful for the diligent efforts of poll workers throughout the city to ensure that every voter can exercise their right to vote.”

And now, the Election 2024 Results

Although I reside in Somerville, MA, I voted Yes to get rid of the requirement for high school students to pass the MCAS exam(s), because that requirement would deprive bright students, who for whatever reasons, don’t test well, or students with learning/development problems, or whatever, of graduating from high school and getting a high school diploma, which is needed, especially nowadays.

…excrementus. This is nothing but a pathetic scheme to broom entirely unprepared kids through the system without even a modicum of the education they need to compete. It’s nothing short of green-lighting “diploma factories.”.
And the teachers (for lack of a better word) are fine with it?
      Abhorrent.

I also voted yes on the question of the rights of Lyft and Uber drivers to form a union(s),
No on the legalization of psychedelics, and yes on the raising the minimum wage, not just for servers/waitresses in restaurants, etc., but for servers, etc., everywhere.

I’m a little different in my ways of thinking than a lot of people, but I also believe there should be room for different opinions to be expressed, as well.

I admittedly knew nothing about the question about auditing the legislature, however.
