We all know how dangerous it crossing Day Boulevard. Basically, you take your life into your own hands.  Well, on Wednesday, September 2nd,  a South Boston man on probation for DUI allegedly hit a woman crossing Day Boulevard throwing her 15 feet in the air.

According to reports, Williams Davis Watson, 37, of South Boston, is facing charges of operating with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a collision causing injury and a civil charge of failing to stop at a crosswalk.  Gheesh!

State Police were were on routine patrol on Wednesday around 7:45pm when they responded to a hit and run crash near the trooper’s barracks along Day. Blvd.  Another motorist had witnessed a red Toyota sedan hitting a pedestrian then fleeing the scene.   The witness then followed the suspect and alerted police.

Police then pursued the Toyota, stopped it near the onramp 93 north, then promptly took Watson into custody.

Watson appeared in South Boston Municipal Court on Thursday and was held without bail, according to the District Attorney’s office.

The victim suffered head and hip injuries and taken to Tufts Medical Center.

How many more people need to be hit, injured or killed on this road before something meaningful is done to slow down traffic?

I'm not talking about putting a state trooper out there for a couple of days or painting more lines on the roadway.

    We've gone well beyond that.
