for MBTA assault

The person sought for attacking a disabled T rider with his own cane at Andrew Square Station this weekend was arrested by Transit police on Tuesday. Miquel Velasquez, 20, has been charged with unarmed robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He was taken into custody at Transit Police headquarters on Tuesday and will be arraigned on Wednesday in South Boston District Court.

Police say Velasquez took the cane from Chris Johnson, 44, and hit him in the chest before walking away at 11 p.m. on Saturday at the Andrew Square T stop.  Police posted photos and a surveillance video depicting the assault online and asked the public to help identify the suspect.
