Dorchester Man arrested in South Boston on drug related charges.
At about 5:50 PM, on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, members of the Drug Control Unit of District C-6 (South Boston) arrested Andy Alcantara-Beltre, 31, of Dorchester, on drug charges.
Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation in the area 45 William T. Morrissey Boulevard to address ongoing community complaints of drug activity. Officers observed a motor vehicle park in the parking lot, and the operator began to use his cell phone. The operator appeared to be looking around as if he was waiting for someone.
A few moments later, an unknown male approached the vehicle, and entered inside by using the front passenger door. Officers observed the two males lean towards each other, as if they were exchanging something.
The front passenger exited the vehicle, and began to walk towards a nearby grocery store. Officers followed the male, and stopped him inside the store. Officers advised the suspect of the reason for the stop, and recovered three plastic bags of fentanyl.
Officers advised other DCU officers of their findings, and began to follow the suspected vehicle. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers approached the vehicle, and advised the operator that he was under arrest for distribution.
Officers searched the suspect, and recovered two plastic bags of fentanyl, ten plastic bags of crack cocaine, and eight plastic bags of powder cocaine. Officers also recovered $800 in US currency.
Alcantara-Beltre was placed under and charged with possession with intent to distribute class A, two counts of possession with intent to distribute class B, and distribution of class A. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
