Deer Drama at Lucky’s Lounge: Southie Woman Sues After Getting Hit on the Head with Antlers

Well, here’s a story you don’t hear every day…

A South Boston woman is taking Lucky’s Lounge to court, claiming her night out ended in a trip to the ER—after a taxidermy deer head allegedly fell from the wall and struck her on the head. Yikes.

Universal Hub is reporting that a lawsuit was filed in Suffolk Superior Court this week. Kathryn Hally alleges she was visiting the Congress Street bar on October 22, 2022, when things took a turn. The complaint states that a mounted deer head—part of the bar’s throwback decor—came crashing down, hitting Hally and causing serious injuries, including a concussion and bleeding in her brain.

Hally is suing Lucky’s owners for negligence, saying the bar failed to properly secure the decorative piece to the wall, putting patrons at risk.

Her losses are listed at $171,159.23, for hospital expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering due to the “concussion, brain bleed, and post-concussive symptoms for months after.”

The Lyons Group, which owns Lucky’s, has until November 13 to respond to the lawsuit.

utOh, my gosh! That’s horrible! Without knowing Kathryn Hally personally, I’m so sorry that she was so seriously injured, and that she not only has a full, speedy recovery, but that she sues the owner of the bar in question–big time, as well. This should never, ever have happened. Things that are so big and heavy should not be hung from walls and/or ceilings, where they could seriously injure or even kill people if the hanging object(s) in question fall down and possibly injure, or even kill somebody.
