Councilor Flynn To Resume Evacuation Day & St Patrick’s Day Parade Task Force Meetings

BOSTON – Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn will resume his Evacuation Day & St. Patrick’s Day Parade Task Force meetings next Monday, August 25th. These monthly preparation meetings will include the South Boston elected officials, leadership of the Allied War Veterans Council, and first responders from the Boston Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, MBTA Police, Boston Fire Department, and Boston EMS. The Task Force was established in April of 2024 to address public safety and quality of life issues that have raised concerns from neighbors in recent years.

The Task Force aims to continue discussions on public safety measures at problematic spots along the parade route, including increasing the number of law enforcement officers, working with stakeholders and partners for additional support, aggressive confiscating of alcohol, and next steps. Councilor Flynn has emphasized that he would like to make a zero tolerance policy a top priority in order to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all next year – particularly for our families with children, our seniors, veterans, and persons with disabilities.

“The South Boston elected officials and I will continue to work towards ensuring that next year’s Evacuation Day & St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a family-friendly event where the people of South Boston and our Veterans community are respected,” said Councilor Flynn. “In the final analysis, this parade is about commemorating a consequential victory in the American Revolutionary War, as well as honoring our proud immigrant roots, and our Veterans, Military and Gold Star Families. We cannot allow violence or inappropriate behavior to overshadow that.”

Mayor Wu and the Spark Council will see to it that the hearings are either never scheduled, or packed with nitwits who can’t have a good time without getting wasted and acting like fools. Spending all of your discretionary income on nightlife is the best way to ensure that you’ll be sharing an overpriced apartment for the best part of your life.
