Congratulates Jenna Fitzgerald on Retirement

City Councilor Bill Linehan recently congratulated the always stunning Jenna Fitzgerald at Venezia’s Restaurant on her forty-plus years of service to the City of Boston.  Jenna entered the Boston Public School Department on a part-time basis which turned into a full-time career as an outstanding union leader and advocate for paraprofessionals in her school district and across the state of Massachusetts.  Jenna was recently awarded the Albert Shanker Pioneer Award from the American Federation of Teachers in Washington D.C. this past April.  This award is presented each year to an outstanding paraprofessional who demonstrates leadership skills in the union, on the job and in the community.

Councilor Linehan stated, “My mother Edie was a paraprofessional at the Gavin under Principal Joe Lee.  Jenna was always diligent in making sure paraprofessionals were represented as well as teachers.”

Jenna, the loving wife of fifty-two years to the late Gerard V. Fitzgerald, is the cherished mother of six children, grandmother of fifteen and great grandmother of five.  This beautiful South Boston gal, who can still turn heads with her dazzling hats and that mischievous look, is most proud of her family and the friends she has acquired over the years in her special life in South Boston.  If you see Jenna around the neighborhood make sure to congratulate her.

The event was a great success with numerous family, friends and Boston Teachers Union brothers and sisters in attendance.
