Could this be end of days? Global Tech Outage Grounds Flights, Knocks Banks, Hospitals Offline, plus the Mind Body and Starbucks app

Good grief. Is this the beginning of the end? On Friday, the world woke up to a large tech outage that grounded flights, knocked banks and hospital systems offline, and took media outlets off the air. This major disruption highlighted the dependence on software from a handful of providers. On a much smaller scale, the Starbucks app and the Mind/Body app were also not working.
From one local Starbucks customer in the neighborhood, “The app was down, so you had to go in and order in person, which was pure chaos.”
But fear not! Officials say a fix is on the way. And if you’re asking, is this a cyber attack? Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack. The company said the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows.
So hang tight. Maybe it’s time to install that old land line again…
