Congressman Stephen Lynch (D) from South Boston was part of the House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday who listened to hours of testimony from Michael Cohen, former lawyer for Donald Trump, regarding conflict of interest, illegal payments, and wrong doings involving the president.
Twitter exploded with people commenting on Lynch’s Boston accent and scrappy ways. Lynch called out the Republicans for running away from the truth that the American people deserve to know. He also mentioned the fact that Trump associates who have been convicted of crimes like Paul Manafort and George Papadopolous were not called to testify when the House Oversight Committee was under Republican leadership.
“For two years, want to talk about an agenda? My friends on the other side of the aisle refused to bring any of these people up before the committee, so today for the first day we have one witness who is voluntarily coming forward to testify,” Lynch said.
“Your side ran away from the truth, and we’re trying to bring it to the American people,” he added.
Standout quote from Lynch:
“I don’t think my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are afraid you’re going to lie. I think they’re afraid you’re going to tell the truth.”
