College Diploma Recovered from Package Theft Suspects in South Boston

On Thursday, May 8, 2025, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) arrested Philip Renaud, 57, of South Boston, and Tayla Lynch, 36, of South Boston, following a package theft.
At about 3:52 PM, officers responded to the area of 26 Jenkins Street for a report of a larceny of progress. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a male and a female suspect had stolen a package from the doorway of a building and fled towards Dorchester Street.
A search of the area began and officers located two individuals matching the description, riding a scooter towards 5 Patterson Way. The suspects were then seen standing by the scooter and surrounded by multiple boxes of merchandise.
The suspects were placed into handcuffs, and transported for booking. Officers quickly realized that one of the packages was a College Diploma and were able to return it to the rightful owner.
Both suspects were placed under arrest and expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court for the following charges:
- Larceny from a Building
- Receiving Stolen Property Under $1,200
