After a confusing morning for South Boston commuters, Senator Linda Dorcen Forry’s office, along with State Rep. Nick Collin’s office, reached out to the MBTA to find out the scoop on the new bus route.  The MBTA has confirmed that the 5, 7, 9 and 10 buses will run on East Broadway NOT East 4th Street. The pickup areas for these routes are now:

  • East Broadway at O St
  • East Broadway at N St
  • East Broadway at M St

In addition, the #11 bus (on an inbound trip) will run from City Point down East 8th Street heading into town.  On their return trips (outbound), the #11 bus will run on Marine Road. Here are the pick-up locations for the #11 bus heading inbound:

  • Dorchester Ave @ E 8th St E
  • E 8th St @ Mercer St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ Old Harbor St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ Covington St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ G St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ H St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ I St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ K St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ L St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ M St (outbound)
  • E 8th St @ N St (outbound)

Can we advocate for the buses using Broadway inbound year-round?  Using East 4th slows them down even in perfect weather.

Also – leave the numbered streets one way and add angled parking.  Parking crisis alleviated (add hundreds of spots with no major disruptions)

The first stop listed is Dorchester Ave @ E 8th St. There is no such location.

The 11 city point drivers keep driving the wrong way down East 8th ST. I got stuck there today. When I got out of my car and told the bus driver he was going the wrong way down a one way street, his response was "I'm a bus!". Imagine that, he was bus. MBTA bus drivers must be able to do anything they want. Their a bus.

The #11 bus does not run on Columbia Road. It runs on Day Blvd and let's people out on the beach.

I think that the buses can go back to the regular way now.
