Brace yourself, Southie. A Vegas-Style Sphere is in the works for the Seaport.

According to sources familiar with the project, developers are proposing a massive, Las Vegas-style Sphere entertainment venue along the South Boston waterfront, with a potential site near the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park. If approved, the structure would rise over 300 feet tall and feature a fully programmable LED exterior, capable of displaying everything from immersive light shows.
Inside, the venue is expected to seat around 18,000 and host virtual concerts, sporting event watch parties, and “fully immersive -themed experiences”—think virtual walks through history and immersive movie experiences. Early plans also include an outdoor beer garden with a food vendor as well as VIP suites.
Construction could begin as early as 2027, pending city approvals and community feedback. While some are already raising concerns about traffic and scale, others are excited about what would be one of the most distinctive entertainment venues in the country, right in our neighborhood.

You got me!😖
And I was looking forward to seeing The Wizard of Oz
instead of the Wicked Witch in the crystal ball, we will all be lectured by a giant Liz Warren pointing her crooked finger.
Thank God this was a joke!! I started having a complete panic attack!! We southie folks reallllly do NOT want anymore construction for monstrosities. Lmao 🤣🤣 you had me fooled!! That was a good one!!
OMG, best April Fools joke ever!. I was horrified, couldn’t wait to tell my sons. I was looking out the window trying to picture a building 10 times as high as my house. Now I can’t stop laughing.
Omg. I was just at the one in Vegas and was kind of excited…. But you got me🤦🏽♀️
but it is true that Fort Independence is going to be converted into permanent supportive housing for migrants in recovery, because we all have to do our part in caring for our neighbors and solving the housing shortage crisis. Once people get used to that, surplus Katrina trailers will be placed on the Greenie from Kellys Landing to L Street.
Ha!!! I fell for it too!
Nice! I love it.
You got me there 😊
Omg…I dislike you. I just told my husband that I don’t have to go to Vegas now to go to the sphere. 😡
