BPD Detectives Recovered A Large Capacity Firearm In South Boston

At about 6:07 AM, on Friday, June 21, 2024, Detectives assigned to the Forensic Division with the assistance of the FBI arrested Mohammad Abdi, 22, of South Boston, on firearm charges.
Detectives and Special Agents were executing a search warrant in the area of 5 Gavin Way. As a result of the search warrant, a large capacity firearm, and three loose rounds of ammunition were recovered. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 19 with ten rounds in a magazine capable of holding fifteen rounds.
Abdi was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
