BPD Officers Confiscate Two Firearms While Arresting Two Juvenile Males on Gun-related Charges in South Boston: At about 1:33pm, on Saturday, May 16, 2020, BPD officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested two juvenile males on gun-related charges in South Boston. Officers were on directed patrol, as a result of several community complaints relative to an increase in violence in the area of the West Broadway Housing Development, when officers observed several individuals congregating in the area of 171 West Broadway. As officers approached the group, two individuals quickly walked away from the group. While following behind the individuals, officers observed one of the individuals moving in such a way as if to suggest he was in possession of a firearm. A pat frisk of this suspect enabled officers to recover a black-colored semi-automatic firearm (see photo). Officers arrested a 17-year-old male from Brockton and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.

In light of the discovery and fearing the presence of other firearms, officers returned to the larger group and conducted a pat frisk of the remaining individuals. While conducting a pat frisk of a 17-year-old juvenile male, officers felt the barrel of what they believed to be a firearm in the suspect’s waist area. Further inspection enabled officers to recover a silver-colored firearm with a brown handle (see photo). Officers arrested a 17-year-old male from Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.

Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on Monday, May 18, 2020,
