BPD Arrest Six Juvenile Suspects Causing a Ruckus at South Bay Shopping Plaza

At about 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 31, 2023, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston), made an onsite arrest of six juvenile males from Boston after receiving several 911 calls regarding a group of juveniles loitering and causing disruption to businesses.
Officers were patrolling South Bay Mall and the area of 24 District Avenue when they observed the same group of juveniles they had removed earlier in the day. As officers attempted to remove the group, several of the juveniles began throwing rocks and physically assaulting officers. While placing one of the juveniles in handcuffs, another suspect could be seen kicking a police radio across the ground and then discarding it.
The group continued throwing rocks at the officers and at police motor vehicles causing windows to be shattered. Several officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated by Boston EMS.
The six juvenile males were placed under arrest and charged with the following:
14-year-old from Dorchester – Delinquent to wit; Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Delinquent to wit; Disorderly Conduct and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest.
15-year-old from Dorchester – Delinquent to wit; Receiving Stolen Property, Delinquent to wit; Affray, Delinquent to wit; Disorderly Conduct and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest
16-year-old from the South End – Delinquent to wit; Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Delinquent to wit; Disorderly Conduct and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest.
16-year-old from the South End – Delinquent to wit; Disorderly and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest.
15-year-old from the South End – Delinquent to wit; Disorderly Conduct and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest.
16-year-old from Roxbury – Delinquent to wit; Disorderly Conduct and Delinquent to wit; Resisting Arrest.
All suspects were arrested and released to a parent/guardian and are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile District Court.
