This should be interesting.  A hearing will be held on Thursday to discuss an Office of Inspector General – to ensure honesty, integrity, transparency and efficiency in City government by rooting out waste, abuse, fraud, corruption and mismanagement.  This is in response to the recent ZBA bribery scandal.

BOSTON, MA – The Boston City Council’s Committee on the Government Operations, Chaired by Boston City Councilor At-Large Michael F. Flaherty, will hold a hearing to review Docket #1337: An Ordinance Establishing the Office of Inspector General in the City of Boston. The proposed Ordinance is sponsored by Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell. The proposal seeks to create an independent office of Inspector General in the City of Boston — with the goal of ensuring honesty, integrity, transparency and efficiency in City government by rooting out waste, abuse, fraud, corruption and mismanagement.

Chairman Flaherty and members of the Committee on the Government Operations will hear from a range of stakeholders who are experienced in government oversight and accountability. The hearing is open to the public. The hearing will be recorded and broadcast on Comcast channel 8, RCN channel 82, and Verizon 1964; along with being streamed on www.boston.gov/city-council-tv.
