January 29, 2020 – Boston, MA – Seaport’s newest winter entertainment destination, Snowport Winter Village, adds to its robust community offerings with an exciting event – the winter wonderland will host Adam Rippon, 2018 Olympic Medalist, self-professed America’s Sweetheart, and author of Beautiful on the Outside, on Saturday, February 8, 2020. The event will take place from 10am-12pm at Snowport Winter Village, kicking off with a solo figure skating performance by Rippon. The performance will be followed by a Q/A with former figure skater, 2014 Olympic Medalist and Boston resident, Ashley Wagner, a book signing of Rippon’s recent memoir, Beautiful on the Outside, and a meet and greet, allowing fans across the city to connect with the Olympian.

In an effort to make this an inclusive event for the community, Rippon’s performance is courtesy of Seaport and WS Development; due to limited capacity, tickets are required via EventBrite. A suggested donation is encouraged to The Trevor Project, a preferred charity of Rippon’s and a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth. Snowport is located at 65 Northern Ave (the intersection of Seaport Boulevard and Fan Pier Boulevard).  www.bostonseaport.xyz

Rippon rose to meteoric fame following his spectacular performance at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, all while making history as the first openly gay athlete to represent the United States in the Olympic Games. As one of the most dramatic figure skaters on the planet, Rippon is known for his refreshing candor and wit, and his rise to fame on the global stage has provided him with a platform to speak out in support of LGBTQ rights and the freedom to be oneself. His passion and charm have made him an inspiration to young and old alike and he has quickly become a role model and icon to millions. Rippon has been named to the TIME 100 List of Most Influential People, AdWeek’s 100 Most Creative, Forbes 30 Under 30; Bleacher Report’s Power 50: Most Influential People in Sports Culture and OUT Magazine’s Power 50: The Most Influential Voices in LGBTQ America.

As an exciting contribution to Boston, Snowport Winter Village, created by WS Development and presented by Fjällräven and Capital One Café, debuted in December, 2019. It offers a 3,000 square foot ice-skating rink, and an array of complimentary winter activities, including iceless outdoor curling, IceFlow and Adaptive skating classes, board games, and a vintage gondola sourced from Aspen, Colorado. Visitors will also find warm beverages and waffles from The Waffle Cabin, alongside pizzas from the Oath Pizza truck. Snowport will remain open through March 1, 2020. The rink is operated by WS Development, which owns and develops 23 acres of land in the Seaport.
