Beachside trouble in Southie on Tuesday evening.

There’s nothing like kicking off summer with a good old-fashioned beach brawl.
Large crowds swelled and got out of hand at Carson Beach in South Boston on Tuesday night during the summer-like weather. According to the Boston Globe, a section of Day Boulevard and parking lots at Carson Beach were temporarily closed following reports of fights and disorderly behavior.
Massachusetts State Police said troopers responded to Carson Beach around 5 p.m. after “a disorderly crowd” assembled in the area. Day Boulevard was shut down for several hours before eventually reopening later in the evening.
State Police also responded to reports of large gatherings and loud music at Castle Island, Malibu Beach, and Tenean Beach. Officials said patrols remained in the area throughout the night to monitor the situation.
BPD was also called to the beaches and was on scene.
Temperatures climbed into the 80s on Tuesday, bringing big crowds to beaches across the city. As of late Tuesday night, there was no word on any arrests.
Carson Beach has been the backdrop for summer trouble in the past.
Hopefully, this is not a prequel to what is yet to come. Remember this summer? Just recently, Mayor Michelle Wu announced a summer safety plan, which you can read here.

I don’t recall ‘old fashioned” beachside brawls like that growing up in South Boston.

Wait until the park is transformed into a Chicago crime scene. Wu, you will never be one of us.
Well, there’s no place to park near White Stadium anymore, so Carson Beach is the closest destination, 10 minutes down Columbia Road as the lowrider flies. Just think what the next gathering of youths at say N Street Beach will do for condo prices, not to mention business in the Broadway bars.
I lived in the projects across from Carson beach, what a wonderful place to grow up, for kids across from a big field to play in and the beach in the summer, moved out in 1949 at age 12, please don’t let it become a killing field and ruin it for other kids. I have nothing but good memories of Southie.
the sad part is the kids that are gathering and fighting are not from Southie.
Don’t tell that to Wu. Were there any drag queens involved, or menstruating men involved in the riot?
