At the Heights on Evacuation Day – a new video
Caught in Southie loves our Southie History Lessons! Our neighborhood is so rich in history, we love to see anyone actively promoting it! A new video created by Boston National Historic Parks reflects on the importance of Dorchester Heights in our nation’s history! You’ll see some familiar faces on the video including local politicians, historians, neighbors and friends – my niece Selina Sheppeck is the first narrator you’ll see!
245 years ago, occupying British forces evacuated Boston more than a week after Continental soldiers seized the Heights of Dorchester, thus ending the Siege of Boston. This was the first major strategic and political victory for the Continental Army led by General George Washington. Join local Bostonians as they reflect on the importance of Dorchester Heights’ place in history and what it still means today.
