See report from BPD news:

Anonymous Tip from Concerned Community Members Enables Members of the District C-6 Neighborhood Drug Control Unit to Arrest Drug Dealing Suspects in South Boston: As part of the BPD’s ongoing efforts to keep our city safe while partnering with community members who share our vision for a safer Boston, the Boston Police Department launched the Crime Stoppers Text-A-Tip Program back in 2007. The program, a first of its kind in the United States at the time, began paying immediate dividends while making it easier for community members to anonymously pass along essential crime-fighting information in a timely and appropriate manner. Through the years, the Crime Stoppers Anonymous Tip Line and Text-A-Tip have been hugely effective while processing thousands of anonymous tips intended to fight crime and reduce fear in our city’s neighborhoods. It’s a program and partnership that continues to make our city safer by the day. And, this past week, an anonymous tip made all the difference in helping members of the District C-6 Neighborhood Drug Control Unit locate and arrest two drug dealers in South Boston.

The facts and circumstances surrounding both incidents are as follows:
