311 Complaint of the Day: Southie Resident Calls Out Tall Ships Parking Situation
Sail Boston has officially arrived, but not everyone is feeling the excitement.
According to Universal Hub, a frustrated South Boston resident filed a 311 complaint on Saturday morning after residents were asked not to park on streets like Shore Road, Day Boulevard, and First Street because of the Tall Ships. Read the report below:
The resident questioned why locals were asked to move their cars only to have the spots taken by out-of-town visitors. That’s a great question. As of Sunday morning at 10 am, the 311 report was still open. No word on whether the cars were towed.

South Boston, especially the west side, has had to live with this on weekends forever. We go to run an errand, take our elderly parents out to get food, or watch our kids’ games, and come home to out of state / non resident cars stuffed in our neighborhoods because our residential parking is weekday only. When do the taxpayers living in this city get a break and they make residential parking in all of South Boston EVERYDAY! Also 311 has become useless for reporting parking violations. I have open reports from 3 months ago still open.
Pay attention to the election calendar. Primary BEFORE LABOR DAY, September 1. In the State Senate race there are three candidates. One is serious, experienced, and lives in the neighborhood. One is not serious in any manner. One is a pawn of the same Mayor who is responsible for 311, and traffic and parking in general.
