William Raveis Real Estate has a new Southie agent and we’d like to welcome her to the neighborhood! We recently sat down with Abby Marjollet and had a little Q&A with her!

Tell us a little about yourself?
I have been a Massachusetts resident my whole life and am from the South Shore. I grew up in Hingham, MA with my parents and three siblings and attended College of the Holy Cross. Hingham was a great town to grow up in because the community is supportive and close-knit. My parents still live there and I love to go back and visit to be on the water and walk Worlds End. I attended Hingham High School where I played lacrosse and swam on the swim team and met people who are still my closest friends.

How long have you been living in Southie and what brought you here?
I have been living in Southie for just over a year and it has been awesome. Choosing to move to Southie was a natural choice for me because so many people I know from both Hingham and Holy Cross had made or were making the same move. It is such a fun community to be a part of and still has apartments that young professionals can afford to rent. Its proximity to Downtown is also a plus and made it easy for me to commute to my prior jobs in the Financial District.  I have come to love that Southie provides its residents a taste of city life with all the bar and restaurant options, but also the ability to enjoy the outdoors with Castle Island and Carson Beach. The fact that you can stay in Southie and have great entertainment options or hop in an Uber that takes minutes to be Downtown makes it an awesome neighborhood for first time renters or homebuyers.

What made you interested in real estate?
I have always had the idea that at some point in my life I wanted to be a real estate agent and my last job solidified that. Prior to getting my license, I worked in commercial real estate research and analytics where I was responsible for understanding and forecasting the office, retail, industrial, and apartment markets in different metros across the United States. The apartment market this cycle has taken off and you can definitely see that in Boston.  Just look around Southie and the Seaport, there is new construction and condo developments everywhere you look. This information was always the most exciting and interesting to me so I decided to make the transition to residential real estate.

It is no secret South Boston is a hot market, what do you think is driving that?
Southie is definitely a hot market. The majority of listings go for over asking price and new construction continues to come to market. I think on the renting side, the location of Southie and the fact that it is still affordable for young professionals drives the desirability to live here. For buyers, there are many options from older, charming multi-family units to new high-end condominiums. Finally, I would say that the changes happening in the Seaport and the announcement of GE coming to Boston make Southie an even more attractive neighborhood to live in.

What can future clients expect from you as their agent?
I want my future clients to feel comfortable working with me and know that I am dedicated to helping them find the home of their dreams whether it is renting, buying, or selling. My goal is to fulfill their real estate needs throughout the Greater Boston area with the highest level of professionalism and attention to detail. I want to take away some of the stress that comes with finding a new home.

What are some of your favorite Southie spots?
I would have to say that walking down along the beach and around Castle Island is one of my favorite, relaxing things to do in Southie. It is so nice to be close to a great walking area after work. For food, Thursday night Junction wings, Lincoln pizza, Paramount breakfast, and Cranberry Café coffee are some of my favorites, but I pretty much love all the restaurants here….who can resist a margarita from Loco!
