Shenannigan’s Parking Lot to be developed into condos

Sign of the times

Looks like the parking lot next to Shenannigan’s will be developed into a five-story building with eight units and commercial space. According to Universal Hub, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the plan on Tuesday.

The owners of the wildly popular West Broadway restaurant will be developing the 4368 square foot lot and have agreed to remove plans for a roof deck to appease neighbors.  (Awww, man! A roof deck would have been awesome!)

City Councilor Ed Flynn showed his  support for  the proposal during the meeting.

Similarly, the Playwright will be expanding into their parking lot in the near future.  The new development will include a 4-story mixed-use building that will expand the ground floor restaurant space while retaining the Playwright Bar and Restaurant. There will be office space in addition to eight residential units. The Boston Planning and Development Agency approved the plans back in March of 2021. No word when construction will begin.

That was the nicest outdoor dining area around. I loved going there in the summer because of the outdoor dining. I’m so disappointed we are losing that, but not surprised.
