New Convenience Store to Replace the Old Cumberland Farms
Last week, the doors of Cumberland Farms closed for good at the corner of L and 5th. A few weeks back, we reported the building was for sale and under agreement. It was unclear if the building would be developed into something larger or if a new business would replace it. Well, it looks like it’s going to remain a convenience store under new ownership.
Friend of CIS, Eileen Murphy saw some people moving items and doing some work inside the store on Tuesday. Looks like Heritage Market will be taking over and will open on Friday.
So although Cumberland Farms is gone, the neighborhood will not lose a convenience store at this location. Which is a good thing.
More to follow.

this is great news quite frankly! perhaps if this market does well when (not if) the lot becomes housing they will have the first floor remain a commercial entity for residents!
Let just hope it doesn’t become a liquor store
Like every other store in Southie’s
