Mass Bay Credit Union to Transform into Life Science Building + Residential Building
More changes coming to the neighborhood.
Universal Hub is reporting that Mass Bay Credit Union located at 147 West Fourth Street will go through a major transformation. A developer wants to replace the credit union building with an 8-story life-sciences building, a 13-story residential building and a new 2-story home for the credit union.
In addition to the three new buildings, there will be 112 parking spaces on a 1.2-acre parcel created out of a few lots from West 4th Street to West 5th Street between A Street and the haul road. A Street Metals Corp located next door will be demolished in addition to the current credit union building.

In other neighborhood development news, another life science building is coming to City Point and the Greyhound Bus Garage sold and will be developed.

Why would the city put a laboratory in a neighborhood?
Joe Cappuccio, we have been fighting these life science bldgs for a few years. Guess they don’t want to listen to us anymore. The Greyhound was open for this topic a few years back. We fought it back then. Such a shame. They just don’t care. Who’s they??? I think you can accurately guess.
When there’s a lab leak of a deadly virus maybe then our kids will be able to afford a house in South Boston. No other neighborhood would or should put up with this and neither should we.
