Development News: Here’s what’s going on at L + Broadway
Lots of changes coming to this intersection!
The two structures at 748-750 East Broadway and one structure at 65 L Street (the old Bailey’s Coffee Shop) will be torn down to make way for a new four-story building with 9 units and a potential restaurant with 120 seats on the ground level.
Construction permits are in place in that area so watch for no parking signs etc. The bus stop will also move from L and Broadway to L and East Third during construction. This is a busy intersection so expect traffic delays etc.
You can check out the recording of a community meeting that took place back in 2021 about this project here.
The developer behind the this project is the same developer who proposed a new development and restaurant at H + Broadway. And is the developer who transformed The Broadway building and is in the process of developing the Playwright building.

Great looking building. A lot better than that orange, cheap brick monstrosity that houses Starbucks across the street. Hope a new restaurant is going. Into the first floor. Southie needs more restaurants. Big improvement over the coffee house previously on the premises.
Building needs parking under :)
I personally think it’s an ugly building. Just what we need more condos at one of the most busiest intersections.
I agree no parking no approval ! The people should have a voice ! On another note what about the eye sore of a project in Perkins Square the major artery of our beloved southie ! The construction has been stopped for over a year now ! Councilor Flynn you were on the neighborhood committee with Jack Keefe . What are you going to do about it ??
great! another condo (you know this cus its gonna have a restaurant and parking). bad spot, how about more stores on bway cus well its broadway, shopping and places to eat thats what should be there anyway. what about STATS? is that going too?
This architectural gem of a building is located at a bus stop, making it transit oriented housing. No need for any parking based upon current city laws, let alone underground. This project is already approved so comments appear a day late and a dollar short. Agree with Koz, great location for a restaurant. More condos in a city facing a housing shortage is great news. Redgate moving forward with the Edison project will transform the neighborhood for the better ! Onward and upward !
How much you making? $$$$
This will solve the housing crisis. All these developers build 9 units so NONE are in the “AFFORDABLE “ range which is still UNAFFORDABLE.
Economics 101- supply and demand. More housing is important for solving the housing crisis and driving down competition.
