5 Ways to Beat the January Blues!
It’s mid-January, it’s chilly out there and in the dead of winter, we could all use something fun to look forward to. Here are our tips on how to kick your winter slump and stay happy all winter long.
Try a New Workout Class
Show your body some love! Winter is the perfect time to try something new, and with lots of resolution-ready gym specials, many studios and gyms offer discounted packages or free classes to new members. Some of our favorites? Radiant Yoga, East Side Yoga, C2 Pilates & BeatBarre, Peter Welch’s Gym and The Handle Bar. Challenge yourself to hitting a certain number of classes in two weeks, a month, etc. And be sure to keep an eye out for the #CISChallenge on Instagram all month long with workout and wellness tips for your week.
Head to Brunch
We’re lucky enough to have new restaurants popping up around every corner! Try out something new this weekend. We’re loving Roza Lyons on East Broadway, who serves up brunch on the weekends from 10am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday . And did you know? Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant offers their wildly delicious Brunch Test Kitchen Fridays at 10am, so you can try things like Caramel Apple Boozy Milkshakes and new off-menu items every week.
Host a Party
If it’s too cold to go out, stay in! Host a dinner party, or Awards party for the upcoming Grammy’s or Academy Awards. Valentine’s Day is also just around the corner, prep a special meal for your loved ones, or host a fun and festive Galentine’s Day brunch for the girls. Prep a playlist, grab some cute decorations from Target or Etsy, and give yourself an excuse to celebrate.
Volunteer Your Time
Kick off 2017 on the right foot by giving back to your community and doing some good for others. Reach out to a few local organizations and see how you can give back this winter. Whether it’s donating warm clothes for the chilly winter months, volunteering your time at an after school program, or running a charity 5k, giving back is a guaranteed mood booster. Check out the South Boston Neighborhood House, The Greater Boston Food Bank, or The Boys & Girls Club for ideas to give back.
De-Clutter & De-Stress
It’s a proven fact that cleaning, de-cluttering, and simplifying is a sure way to reduce stress. Try giving away one item each day or walking around your house with a trash bag, and seeing how quickly you can fill it. Donate any items to The Salvation Army, GoodWill or make some extra $$ by consigning your old favorites at Dew Luxe or Covet. Less clutter = More happy.
