The Food Trucks are back! Whether you like pizza or mexican or in the mood for something sweet, the Boston food truck scene has something to please. Thirty local food trucks will be participating in the 2014 including 10 new ones like Lobsterdog, Stoked Pizza, Tenock and Moyzilla dumplings. Drink:
Local 149 (149 P Street) has spring fever and is mixing up some new cocktails to celebrate the new season! Sip on such concoctions like the E. Broadway Spritz (Capelleti, Dolin Blanc, Prosecco, Soda) or the Southie Sour (Bourbon, Lemon, Sugar, Egg White). Local is also shaking things up in the Brunch department with some new additions to the menu like the Biltmore Burrito and Eggplant Lasagna.

It’s Opening Day at home on Friday, April 4th and Williams Tavern (92 A Street) is celebrating with free hot dogs! Stop by to watch the Red Sox home opener vs. the Brewers. Game begins at 2:05pm. Dying to see what all the buzz is about Yuengling? Yuengling Brewery will be at Williams for a promotional tasting on Thursday, April 3rd from 6pm-8pm.

Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Street) goes “Broadway” this weekend with their interpretation of Wicked (Part 11). This outstanding show will happen this weekend Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th at 7pm and feature 15 local teens and tweens. Come enjoy songs like Popular and Defying Gravity! This event is free and open to the public.

Engine 2 and Ladder 19 (K Street Firehouse) has organized a fill the boot campaign to help the families of fallen firefighters Lt. Ed Walsh and FF Michael Kennedy. Stop by this weekend and fill it up!

In celebration of Children’s Book Month, Mass Bay Credit Union (147 West Fourth Street) is hosting a Children’s Book Drive through the month of April. They will be collecting new and gently used children’s books for the Credit Union Community Hope Initiative to bring the joy of reading to underprivileged children in our community and region.

The dynamic duo of Karen Regan and Debbie Dimaggio have committed to cycling 100 miles from Southie to Hyannis port on May 31st for Best Buddies! Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with all forms of intellectual disabilities. In order to participate in the ride, Karen and Debbie’s need to raise $2,600 and they need your help Southie. Come by Lincoln Tavern on Sunday, April 6th from 4pm-7pm. There will be Lincoln’s famous wings and pizza and a cash bar so you can order yourself up a cocktail. There will be door prizes, raffles and a 50/50 raffle. Admission is $10 and goes to an amazing organization like Best Buddies.
